Kidsafe Ink Giveaway!

You’re on the beach having the time of your life. The kids are making sand castles (or eating them, depending on their age), you’re catching up on some reading soaking up the warm rays, and your spouse is looking to dig up a competitive game of beach volleyball. Just then you realize that one of your little ones is missing. You search the length of the beach frantically, but there is no sign of your child. You begin shouting, shrieking at strangers if they’ve seen your child, all to no avail. Just then, your cell phone rings. You dart back to your beach blanket, answer frantically, and hear a stranger telling you they have your child.

Sound like a horror story? Well, what if that stranger was calling to return your child. How would they do this? If your little guy or gal was wearing a Kidsafe Ink tattoo. These ingenious temporary tattoos are custom made with the phone number of your choice, so that if your child does stray, the police or a kind stranger can quickly get in touch with you. I know this is a terrifying tale, but in this instance it was the tattoo that made all the difference.

Kidsafe Ink is applied like most other temporary tattoos. A little water, a few seconds holding it in place, and voila! You have a rub proof, waterproof, childproof way to ensure you kid’s safety. Kids will love the many designs, and you will love the peace of mind. When you decide it’s time to take it off, just use the enclosed alcohol wipes! Easy on, Easy off.

And now you can get your kiddy in on the fun! Kidsafe Ink is giving 1 Grab Bag reader the personalized tattoo pack of their choice!

How To Enter: Go to Kidsafe Ink's website and tell me which tattoos you would choose. INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

Skin MD SPF 15 GIVEAWAY!

How much do you know about the South? I have lived in the Heart of Dixie practically my entire life. So, when we made the 11 hour move to the Midwest I was in for a shock. The people here sound and behave differently. The landscape went from rolling hills on the verge of being mountains, to flat expanses and endless cornfields. And the weather? Well, the plus side is I haven’t seen a tornado warning since moving, but I’ve seen more snow than all of my previous years combined. I also survived my first ice storm – partially in a hotel.

My skin was also in for a shock. Even during the cold winter months the air in Alabama stays muggy and clings with moisture to your skin. The dry air here in Illinois has, quite literally, ripped my skin to shreds. My hand turned rough and chapped and my lips started to crack and bleed. I tried all of the lotions that I had in arsenal to no avail. So, when I was contacted by Skin MD to review their doctor engineered lotion, I was thrilled. I thought, if anything can save my skin, a doctor can!

When I tried the Skin MD Natural With SPF15 lotion for the first time I noticed how light, almost nonexistent, the scent was. It absorbed into my hands immediately and left no slippery or sticky residue. One of the main things that sets Skin MD’s lotion apart from your run of the mill drug store variety is that this a preventative lotion. Meaning, not only does it help to hydrate and heal your skin, but it also created a protective barrier that protects from further assaults on it. And, for me, it did live up to it’s reputation. For the entire day, my skin was totally unaffected by the dry weather. My skin finally has its moisture back!

And now, no matter where you are, you don’t need to fear dry skin anymore either. Skim MD is giving a lucky Grab Bag reader their own bottle of Skin MD SPF15 lotion!

Booda Brand

We all know that one big hurtle with our little ones is communication. Whether you start early using baby signs or maybe you just repeat the same words over and over to your baby with a constipated look on your face, we all try, and try hard, to get into their little heads.

Booda Brand allows your child to make a statement that is all their own. This high quality brand of eco-friendly, eco-conscious shirts has sayings that resonate with everyone. With phrases like, I Will Make A Difference, Dream, Courage, Peace, your baby will communicate with more than grunts and giggles. Well, I say baby, but these shirts come in long and short sleeved and go from size 12m to 4t. They are working on a baby and organic line, as we speak.

And not only is Booda Brand giving our children words to say, they are also helping children across the country have books of their own to read through the Room to Read program! For every shirt that is sold, one book is donated to a child. So visit Booda Brand's website today and see their entire line. Give a child a book, give your child a voice!

"
Booda Brand truly believes that education is
the key to breaking the continuous cycle of
poverty. As such we have founded a unique

business model called “One for You ,One for
Humanity!” based on the idea of reciprocity."

Top 5 Easiest Ways To Go Green

I hope you guys don't feel like I'm preaching to you about this subject, but going green is a big driving force in my life. I am trying to use the 3 Rs... REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE! So, I decided to put together a simple list of the 5 easiest things I changed in my life to go green. I'm a simple kind of girl. If I want to make a change and stick to it, it has to be easy peasy! So here goes... my Top 5 list!

1. Stop Buying Individual Containers - I can hear you squawking now, "That's not easy! Those individual sizes are so much more convenient!" Well, let me put it to you this way. It is 100 times easier for me to wash 1 bowl of yogurt, than to find the sticky lids and empty molding cups hiding out in my house. And just think of all the different products you can do this with. Instead of buying individually packaged string cheese, buy a block and cut it into your own logs. Instead of buying bottles of water, invest in a few reusable bottles that you can keep filled and cooled in your fridge (Earthlust or Hydracoach are great!). If you get really adventurous, you could even buy a box of UNMADE pudding and {GASP!} make it yourself! *insert horrified shriek here*

2. Stop Shoving Wal-Mart Bags in Every Crevice - That's right, I called you on it. Cut the plastic bag habit. Not only are they a nuscance to have in every corner of your kitchen, but they're terrible for the environment. Get some awesome reuable bags like the Flip & Tumble, or Goody Green Bags, or Baggu Bags. These are all really easy to use bags, that are super convenient.

3. Recycle - Call your waste pickup company, ask about their recycling program (and if they don't have one, hound them until they get one). It's usually VERY low cost, and they provide you with a bin or 2. As easy as taking out the trash. Now, if I could only master getting The Hubby to take out the trash!

4. Stop Buying Disposables
- I almost never buy disposable paper products. Things like paper towels, paper plates, plastic cups, etc. only make my garbage pile up quicker and gives me more exscuses not to do dishes. The one exception are large get togethers where there will be lots of food. For times like this using Preserve's envionmentally concious disposables is the perfect alternative.

5. Go Organic - Organic alternatives to regular foods are now readily available in every grocery store. Instead of hopping your little ones up on sugar with Fruit Roll-Ups, switch to Fruitabu fruit leathers. Give them healthier alternatives with brands like Annie's, Horizon, Back To Nature, and Newman's.

It's really very simple, and all of these products are easy to find. I want you to make an effort to do ONE of these things. Then come back and tell me about it!

I Haven't Been To School In So Long!

The Hubby and I are both looking at going to college. As a stay-at-home-mom for the past 4+ years, this is a pretty scary prospect. To have to deal with studying, teachers, grades, school supplies, placement tests, peer pressure, cliques, etc. etc. all over again... and before I have to deal with them for my boys, is, well, not exactly appealing. We've talked about going back to school for years, but we've never actually gotten off of our lazy butts to do it. Today was the action day.

Here's another thing, I'm not sure that what I'm planning for my major is what I want to do. This site is called Grab Bag Reviews because, well, my life is a grab bag. What you find in it is constantly changing. I have some common interests that stay true, and of course my family is always a huge part of it, but I flit. I'm like a hummingbird darting from flower to flower quickly. It's beautiful and mesmerizing to watch, but they sure do go through A LOT of flowers! That's why blogging is perfect for me! Everyday I get to find something new and different. Everyday I have the chance to convey my mood through a personal post, or a review of a product I love. Everyday I read new comments, from new people. Everyday my life is changing. Finally, it's matching my brain! *giggle*

And now this. It's such a mix of emotions, and the thought of going back to work before I'm ready, is terrifying. Not so much the working part, but the leaving my boys part. I've really put my foot down on this subject when The Hubby has wavered from our original vision, and now, I feel sort of like the rug is being swept out from under my feet. Sure, sure. I know. I'm agreeing to it. But, what if we have more babies? Which I fully intend on doing - I want pink in my house somewhere!

So, this is a pointless post, really. I just needed to get the round and round that is going on in my head out on paper...er... out on blogger? I know I'm not the only one going through these kind of decisions, especially with the economy right now. Who else has had to deal with quitting the stay-at-home-mom profession, or going back to college at an older age?

My Table Has Become Artwork

Unfortunately for me, I didn't intend it to be like this. My oldest was coloring some pictures for me, having a grand ole time, and I was online. Surprised, right? Anyhow, I turn around to check on him and he has foregone the paper in favor of my kitchen table! He drew lovely criss-crossing train tracks down the entire length of my table. Now, as you can see from the pictures, it's not the best table anyway, but it's still our only table! I have tried scrubbing it out and it's not budging an inch. I think a tablecloth is the only thing that's going to save it.

Please, tell me I'm not alone. Tell me what your kiddos have turned into art lately!

Snack & Play

I have found a great deal of fun and exciting ideas around the internet and blogosphere. Most are nice additions to my boys toy collection, or a fabulous item to add to their wardrobe. The hardest things to find are products that make my life easier, and solve a long standing problem. The Snack & Play by Star Kids is one of those items... the few, the proud, the parent's BFF!

The Snack & Play can be used in the car or on the stroller to hold bits of food, drink, or play things. There are mesh holders on the side that are perfect for drinks, Hot Wheels, boxes of crayons, and even little books. This is the perfect solution for my family because with our recent move we'll be on the road alot traveling between "home" and home. I don't have to worry about crumbs getting all over the car, or finding crayons weeks later in the crevices of my SUV. This is the catch-all that keeps all of your child's traveling odds and ends within arms reach. No more, "Mommy, I dropped my cracker." or, "Daddy, I need a new book!" Now, without putting either of you in harms way, the problem is solved!

This ingenious little product saves time money, and sanity when you're on the go. If you're planning a long distance road trip, or a day out at the zoo, you need to pick one up! Be sure to check out Star Kids' website and find a local shop to buy one!

Joyful Naturals Giveaway!

I have a passion for bath and body products. Some people cringe at the idea of a bubble bath and lotion gift set, but I love it. I consider it an easy way to treat myself, and I love being able to have a light scent on my skin without the harshness of perfume. On the flip side, I try to buy organic and natural body products only. It doesn't always happen that way, but I do try. For my children this is especially important. It's kind of like making sure your children eat veggies that even you wouldn't touch. We all want our to be as happy and as healthy as possible.
Enter Joyful Girl Naturals. I found this wonderful shop on Etsy, and I was immediately struck by the experience that she has. For over 20 years, the owner has been making bath and body products, along with herbal remedies. And it definitely shows in her products! Here is what I've tried so far.

Organic Bottom Butter - This comes in a thick tube, that you twist up like deodorant. This was so perfect for on the go, as there was no messy cream getting on my fingers. It worked like a charm! The cocoa butter and essential oils literally erased the diaper rash that my son and I had been fighting for weeks. She should call this butt eraser!

Toddler Tubtime Wash (Chamomile) - I love this! It came in the cutest crayon shaped tube and it is a nice thick wash, but cleans off in a flash. No residue, and my babies were, quite literally, squeaky clean!
Natural Purse Essentials - This set comes with lotion, lip balm, and a headache relief stick! The lotion is a nice, almost whipped texture, with just the right amount of light scent. The lip balm, works wonders, and stays in my pocket. The headache relief stick, I'll be honest, I haven't needed yet, but I almost wish a headache would come on so I could use it! The scent is light, and I know it wouldn't exacerbate a headache. These are all perfect, natural alternatives to the brands you usually stick in your medicine cabinet.

The list of natural products you can find at Joyful Girl Natural goes on and on. Everything from face and body care, to exfoliation, to man stuff is here.

And now onto my favorite part! You get the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to choose any products that you want from Joyful Girl Natural!

How To Enter: Go to Joyful Girl Natural's Etsy shop and tell me which item(s) you would choose. INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

Today Is A New Day!

I suppose, technically, every day is a new day, but today has a freshness to it that I haven't felt in a while. I've really been pondering my blog a lot lately. I wonder if the general public really knows how much time a blog takes up, if you're doing it properly.. Whenever I'm writing a review, or scouring the blogosphere and my boys come to me I always tell them that I'm working. I do consider this my job, but it's unlike any job I've ever had. I LOVE this one! I don't wake up in the morning, dragging my feet, dreading reading email, or review comments, or picking our latest winner... I love very second of it! But here's the thing. It does take up A LOT of my time, and so I felt I needed to have more of a focus. Not just, "Hi, I'm Heather, I blog." At the very least, I want, in my mind, to know where this is going. To know why I do what I do, and why I dedicate so much of my personal/family/house cleaning/grocery shopping/diaper changing/dinner cooking time to it.

A fellow blogger made a comment the other day about having her writing potentially published, and this she followed up by saying, "This is why we blog, isn't it? So we can write one day?" That's a paraphrase, but my initial reaction was, "Huh.... IS that why we do this? I didn't know!" I was totally clueless as to why I was blogging. Now, don't get me wrong, I had a"purpose" behind it. I love connecting with other adults. My life is full of baby-talk, and diapers, and "this little piggie" and I wanted an adult outlet, where I could exercise my vocabulary beyond colors, letters, and numbers. And so Grab Bag was born. Out of a need for connection, a need for conversation. But up until this point I haven't had a very defined answer for the future. What I expect to come from Grab Bag.

I now have a few ideas working in my head about where I want this to lead, and what direction I want to take Grab Bag permanently. You'll still be seeing all the same things that are here now, but there will be more. More about me, from me, more information that is pertinent to my life and yours, more personality, etc. I think, up until this point, this blog has run me, and I'm not complaining, but it's time that I took charge of it and made it into what I need it to be. It will, indeed be a Grab Bag of reviews, giveaways, information, life stories, guests (woo!), features, and so much more. Enjoy!

*ENDED* Reconnect With Your Spouse - Eden Fantasys Giveaway!

Disclaimer: This giveaway is PG-13. While this is a family friendly blog, I also recognize that parents are the essence of every family. In order for a family to be strong, so must be the bond between Husband and Wife. One important aspect of that bond is the intimate relationship, and that is what I'm addressing today. Enjoy!

It's so easy for life with your spouse to become stagnant. We get into routines that are essential to our lives, but then those routines turn into ruts, and before you know it, you feel like roommates rather than lovers. It only seems to make sense that as your responsibilities mount one on top of the other, you seem to be mounting less. (dirty pun...you'll have to excuse me!) So what are we supposed to do about this? Well, I've always heard that admitting there is a problem is the first step to fixing it, so congrats! You are already on your way to making a conscious effort to improve your relationship.

Why is heating up the bedroom so important for your marriage health? Here's my list of personal pros.

  • Better Health - The release of endorphins after orgasm helps your health in a number of ways. Endorphins are an analgesic (read: pain relief). This means your headache is no longer an excuse not to do it. It's all the more reason you should be getting busy with your honey! Endorphins are also partially responsible for helping your body cope with stress and regulating your moods.
  • Greater Intimacy - While many people think of sex as a purely physical act, this couldn't be further from the truth. I know that I personally long for intimacy with my husband. One sure fire way to get a man tuned into you is in the bedroom. Putting your sexual relationship at the top of the priority list, opens you both up emotionally and mentally, and the physical connection fosters closeness that can't be achieved any other way.
  • Opposites Attract - My husband and I are definatley Venus and Mars. We are polar opposites, but one thing we both have in common - we enjoy sex. Well, how about that. I bet even the most contradictory pairs can find common ground in their bedroom.
  • Had Any Fun Lately - Life can be so hum-drum, and with work, children, and housework there seems to be little time to include personal enjoyment. Having a playful romp with your spouse after the kids are asleep is the perfect way to incorporate some fun into your lives!
  • If It Feels Good, Do it - Now, this is not true for everything, obviously, but when you are married and talking about connecting with your spouse, it is all green lights!
  • It's Only A Problem If You're NOT Doing It - People make a big deal about the frequency of sex. But, have you ever noticed that the ones who are complaining always wish it was happening more often? I don't think I've ever heard someone say, "Oh man, if we have sex one more time I'm going to puke. I'm so over-sexed." Ummmmm, nope. It just does not happen!
So, what does all of this have to do with my giveaway? Well... hide the kiddies... I'm giving away a Reconnect With Your Spouse package from Eden Fantasys. I personally compiled all of these fun products to help spice things up in the bedroom, give you a new take on your sexual relationship, and boldly go where you and your hubby have never gone before! So let's see what adult toys we can give you to play with!
First, why don't you kick things off with a game. Be playful, be coy, be sexy. The 101 Night Of Grrreat Sex board game gives you and your spouse a fun way to get it in gear in the bedroom. You'll be anything but bored!
Next is Kama Sutra Massage Oil. Get into being kinky by working out eachothers kinks. Touch will get you connected and stimulated, and the scent of sweet almond is light and inviting. This non-greasy formula glides easily to reduce friction.

Now, you can't have a sexually charged giveaway without a sex toy, can you? I think not. The Nea (sorry, no picture. You're going to have to visit the website for this one!) is designed with a woman in mind, but is perfect for using as a couple. Use it to enhance your pleasure together, or put him to work making you top priority!
When all is said and done, who wants to waste time cleaning up? The Pjur® Med Clean Wipes keep dirty business where it should be. Whether you're cleaning yourself or your toys, it doesn't get any easier than this.
I can tell you from personal experience that there are few things more embarrassing than your child mistaking adult toys for one of their own. So, keep all your couple goodies under lock and key with the Devine toy box with pink hearts. It's girlie, and totally inconspicuous. No one will ever guess what's inside!

So with the help of Eden Fantasys and Grab Bag, you're sure to rekindle that fire in no time! And the best part? It doesn't stop here! This is the big kickoff to Grab Bag Reviews and Eden Fantasys Toy of the Month!! Every month I will give you guys a chance to win a fun new toy. So keep your eyes peeled!

*ENDED* Piggy Paint Giveaway!

This little piggy went to market.

This little piggy stayed home.

This little piggy had roast beef.

This little piggy had none.

But this little piggy... painted her fingers and toes in a delightful shade of pink called Girls Rule and had no worried about toxic chemicals chipping off into her baby's mouth along with her polish.

Wait a sec, that's not how it goes! Well, ok, I know that's not how it really finishes off, but the wonderful brand of polish called Piggy Paint makes me thing of that little rhyme every time!

I don't have any little girls (yet...muahahaha Hubby!) so when I buy Piggy Paint it's all for me. The thing that I love is that it's completely non toxic so I don't have to worry if my teething toddler bites of pieces while he's knawing at my fingers. "Natural as mud" is the way Piggy Paint describes itself, and I am so glad this is true! The other part that I am drooling over, is their polish remover. It works like a charm on the natural Piggy Paint and on regular polish, and it DOES NOT STINK!! It actually smells good! Regular nail polish remover stings my nose and gives The Hubby massive headaches. But I don't have that problem anymore, thank goodness! Here is the full list of great qualities that Piggy Paint has. With 13 fun shades you can't lose!

  • Non-toxic
  • Odorless
  • Water-based formula
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Fun, vibrant colors
  • Dries to a hard, durable finish
And that fabulous remover I was telling you about? Their love list is just as long!

  • Non-toxic
  • Odorless
  • Made from natural ingredients
  • No Acetone
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Biodegradable
Now the BEST part! You get the chance to win a GIFT PACK of your choice from Piggy Paint!

How To Enter: Go to Piggy Paint's website and tell me which giftpack you would choose. INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.
